A turn-based tactical strategy game developed by Team17 for portable consoles PlayStation Portable and Nintendo DS, Worms: Open Warfare 2 is a sequel that significantly expands upon the original. Players once again control teams of worms battling on destructible 2D arenas, using a wide variety of weapons, including classic series staples like the bazooka, grenades, and dynamite, as well as new additions such as the Boomerang and Magnetic Mine. Improved physics and an enhanced AI system make battles more dynamic and challenging. The game introduces several new modes, including Capture the Flag and Forts, along with full-fledged online multiplayer support via Wi-Fi. The graphics have been refined, while the signature humor and charm of the series remain intact. In addition to multiplayer, the game features a single-player campaign with missions set in various thematic locations, including pirate islands, ancient Rome, and outer space. Worms: Open Warfare 2 stands out as one of the best portable entries in the franchise, thanks to its expanded features, variety of game modes, and online play support.
