ABC Afterschool Special

An American anthology television series created in 1972 in the United States by director Guy Fraumeni, ABC carried it for a quarter of a century, from October 4, 1972 until January 23, 1997. Each episode presented a standalone dramatic or documentary story aimed at a teenage audience, addressing contemporary social issues such as illiteracy, substance abuse, and teenage pregnancy. Some episodes were produced in animated format or as documentaries. The series received critical acclaim and was honored with 51 Daytime Emmy Awards and four Peabody Awards for its contribution to youth education.
