Angel Heart

A 1987 American neo-noir psychological horror film adapted from William Hjortsberg's 1978 novel "Falling Angel." The film was written and directed by Alan Parker. The story follows private detective Harry Angel (Mickey Rourke), working in 1955 New York City. Angel is hired by the enigmatic Louis Cyphre (Robert De Niro) to locate a missing singer named Johnny Favorite. His investigation leads him to New Orleans, where he becomes entangled in a series of brutal murders and delves into the worlds of occultism and voodoo. During his search, Angel encounters Epiphany Proudfoot (Lisa Bonet), the daughter of a woman connected to Favorite, and they develop a relationship. As the investigation progresses, Angel discovers that all the witnesses he interviews are mysteriously killed. He gradually realizes that his own past is intricately linked to Johnny Favorite, and that he himself is the person he has been searching for. The film received mixed reviews from critics but was noted for its atmosphere, performances, and musical score. Lisa Bonet won the Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actress, and Mickey Rourke was nominated for the same award for Best Actor.
