Avowed

Avowed is a single-player role-playing game with first-person and third-person perspectives, developed by Obsidian Entertainment and published by Xbox Game Studios. Released on February 18, 2025, for Windows and Xbox Series X/S, the game is set in the world of Eora, known from the Pillars of Eternity series, specifically in the region of the Living Lands. Players take on the role of an envoy from the Aedyr Empire, tasked with investigating a mysterious plague called the "Dream Scourge." Gameplay combines the use of magic, melee weapons, and firearms, allowing players to mix spells and physical attacks for powerful combinations. The game features several large zones to explore and a dialogue system where player choices influence the storyline and relationships with companions. Development began in 2018, and after several reboots, the project was completed under the direction of Carrie Patel. Avowed received positive reviews from critics for its deep narrative, well-developed characters, and engaging combat system.
