A tactical multiplayer first-person shooter developed by DICE and published by Electronic Arts, Battlefield 2142 stands out in the series with its futuristic setting. The game takes place in the year 2142, as Earth undergoes a new ice age, forcing two superpowers—the European Union (EU) and the Pan-Asian Coalition (PAC)—into war over the remaining habitable land. The gameplay focuses on team-based combat, utilizing futuristic weaponry, combat vehicles, walking mechs, and aircraft. One of its defining features is the "Titan" mode, where players fight for control over massive floating battleships, defending their own Titan while trying to destroy the enemy’s. With an advanced class system, soldier customization, and destructible environments, Battlefield 2142 was considered one of the most innovative entries in the franchise. Despite positive reviews, official servers were shut down in 2014, though the game remains active through community-supported projects.
