An American music artist known by the stage name Childish Gambino, Donald McKinley Glover Jr. began his career in 2004. Born on September 25, 1983, at Edwards Air Force Base in California and raised in Stone Mountain, Georgia, Glover studied dramatic writing at New York University. He adopted the moniker "Childish Gambino" using a Wu-Tang Clan name generator. His music career commenced with the mixtape "Sick Boi" in 2008, followed by "Culdesac" (2010) and his debut studio album "Camp" (2011). In 2013, he released "Because the Internet," earning critical acclaim and a Grammy nomination. The 2016 album "Awaken, My Love!" featured the hit "Redbone," which won a Grammy for Best Traditional R&B Performance. In 2018, his single "This Is America" became a cultural phenomenon, debuting at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and winning four Grammy Awards, including Song of the Year and Record of the Year. In 2020, he released the experimental album "3.15.20," followed by its reimagined version "Atavista" in 2024, and his final album as Childish Gambino, "Bando Stone & the New World," accompanied by "The New World Tour." Glover announced the retirement of his musical persona to focus on other creative endeavors.
