An American singer and songwriter, born on November 8, 1989, in St. Louis, Missouri, and raised in Maplewood, New Jersey. She began her music career in 2011 by recording songs with friends and uploading them to SoundCloud. In 2012, she self-released her debut EP "See.SZA.Run," followed by a second EP "S" in 2013, which attracted the attention of Top Dawg Entertainment. She signed with the label in 2013, becoming its first female artist. In 2014, she released her third EP "Z," which reached number 39 on the Billboard 200 chart. Her debut studio album "Ctrl" was released in 2017 to critical acclaim and commercial success, earning her five Grammy nominations. In 2022, she released her second studio album "SOS," which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and became the longest-running number-one female R&B album of the decade.
