A 2022 American superhero film directed by Sean O'Reilly, based on the graphic novel by Grant Chastain. The story is set in San Tiburon, the world's most dangerous maximum-security prison designed to incarcerate supervillains and enhanced individuals. The facility is equipped with power inhibitors to neutralize the abilities of its inmates, ensuring control over the diverse and often dangerous population. The narrative begins with the arrival of Payback (Dan Payne), a zealous vigilante whose mission to hunt down enhanced humans leads to his incarceration at San Tiburon. His entry into the prison disrupts the existing balance of power among inmates and staff. Warden Devlin (Michael Rooker), known as "The Overseer," is the corrupt and ambitious head of San Tiburon. He is particularly interested in Julius "The Lobe" Loeb (Bruce Willis), a notorious inmate with immense intellect and telekinetic abilities. The Lobe is rumored to have a hidden fortune, and Devlin is determined to extract its location to fund his luxurious retirement. Brennan Mejia plays Diego Diaz, an inmate who has just arrived and whose only gift is heightened empathy. Every ally he picks in San Tiburon either keeps him alive or turns him into a pawn in the deadly games the warden and the prisoners play against one another. Loyalties shift, betrayals surface, and the rivalry between The Lobe and The Overseer boils over into a violent uprising inside the walls. In that chaos his empathy turns into the one useful skill: he mediates between the men around him and looks for a way to stay alive. Everything converges on a single confrontation that drags the corruption running the place into the open and forces each character to face his own moral compass. The ending settles nothing about San Tiburon or the people locked in it, and leaves the meaning of justice and redemption an open question.
