Dolphin Tale 2

The 2014 American family drama directed by Charles Martin Smith serves as a sequel to the 2011 film and is based on the true story of a dolphin named Winter. Several years after Winter's rescue, the Clearwater Marine Aquarium team faces a new challenge: Winter's elderly surrogate mother, Panama, passes away, leaving Winter alone. According to USDA regulations, dolphins cannot be housed alone, and without a new companion, Winter will have to be transferred to another facility. The protagonist, teenager Sawyer Nelson (Nathan Gamble), is torn between accepting an offer to join the prestigious SEA Semester program or staying to help Winter. The team, including Dr. Clay Haskett (Harry Connick Jr.), his daughter Hazel (Cozi Zuehlsdorff), Lorraine Nelson (Ashley Judd), and prosthetic specialist Dr. Cameron McCarthy (Morgan Freeman), works diligently to find a new companion for Winter. After an unsuccessful attempt with a dolphin named Mandy, who is rehabilitated and released back into the wild, a new dolphin named Hope arrives at the aquarium, too young to be released. The initial introduction between Hope and Winter is unsuccessful, but after creating a new prosthetic tail for Winter, the dolphins begin to bond, allowing Winter to remain at the aquarium. The film emphasizes themes of friendship, responsibility, and decision-making, showcasing the power of human kindness and dedication.
