Edge of Tomorrow

All You Need Is Kill, a Japanese light novel by Hiroshi Sakurazaka, loosely underpins this 2014 American science fiction action film. Doug Liman directed it, while Christopher McQuarrie wrote the script alongside the writing team Jez and John-Henry Butterworth. Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt head the cast, and the story unfolds in a future where an alien race holds most of Europe. Major William Cage (Tom Cruise), a public relations officer with no combat experience, is forced to join a landing operation against the aliens, only to find himself experiencing a time loop as he tries to find a way to defeat the invaders.
