Fire with Fire

A 2012 American action thriller directed by David Barrett. The plot follows Long Beach, California firefighter Jeremy Thomas Coleman (Josh Duhamel), who becomes an accidental witness to the brutal murder of a convenience store owner and his son by neo-Nazi gang leader David Hagan (Vincent D'Onofrio). After narrowly escaping, police detective Mike Cella (Bruce Willis), whose partner was previously killed by Hagan, sees this as an opportunity to finally bring the criminal to justice. Jeremy agrees to testify against Hagan and enters the witness protection program, changing his name to Douglas and relocating to New Orleans. There, he meets Deputy U.S. Marshal Talia Durham (Rosario Dawson), and they develop a romantic relationship. However, Hagan, using his connections, is released from custody and sends hitmen to eliminate Jeremy. After an attack in which Talia is wounded and Jeremy manages to fend off the assailants, he decides to take justice into his own hands. Returning to Long Beach, Jeremy seeks help from the local Eastside Crips gang to acquire weapons. Utilizing his firefighting knowledge and skills, he begins hunting down Hagan's men, eliminating them one by one. In the climax, Jeremy sets fire to the building where Hagan and his crew are gathered to end them once and for all. In the final confrontation, Talia, having freed herself from captivity, kills Hagan, and Jeremy carries her out of the burning building. The film explores themes of revenge, justice, and personal responsibility, depicting how an ordinary man can turn into a vigilante when the justice system fails.
