Monolith Productions built this multiplayer first-person shooter inside the DC Comics universe; Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment released it. Unlike most Batman-related games, this one does not feature the Dark Knight himself or his iconic villains. Instead, players take control of impostors inspired by either Batman or the Joker, engaging in chaotic battles across Gotham's streets. The game offers fast-paced action with extensive character customization, allowing players to equip various weapons, gadgets, and abilities such as rocket launchers, grappling hooks, and spring-loaded boots. Gotham City Impostors stands out with its humorous and over-the-top art style, adding a unique twist to the DC universe. While praised for its quirky style, fun gameplay, and customization depth, the game suffered from online issues, including technical problems and a declining player base. Initially released as a paid game for PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360, it later transitioned to a free-to-play model, but its online servers were shut down in 2021.
