A free-to-play multiplayer first-person shooter developed by DICE and published by Electronic Arts, Battlefield Play4Free combined gameplay elements from Battlefield 2 and Battlefield: Bad Company 2. The game featured large-scale online battles with up to 32 players on maps inspired by classic Battlefield locations. Players could choose from four character classes—Assault, Medic, Engineer, and Recon—and had access to a wide selection of weapons and vehicles, including tanks, helicopters, and armored transports. The game used a free-to-play monetization model, offering paid upgrades such as accelerated progression, cosmetic items, and premium weapons. Despite positive feedback on its fast-paced gameplay and nostalgic Battlefield feel, Battlefield Play4Free faced criticism for its lack of depth and aggressive microtransaction system. In 2015, the game’s servers were shut down, making it no longer available to players.
