"Growing Pains" is a 1985 American sitcom that follows the lives of the Seaver family residing in the fictional town of Huntington on Long Island, New York. The family patriarch, Dr. Jason Seaver (Alan Thicke), is a psychiatrist who decides to move his practice home to be closer to his children when his wife, Maggie (Joanna Kerns), resumes her career as a journalist. They have three children: the eldest son, Mike (Kirk Cameron), a charming and often troublesome teenager; daughter Carol (Tracey Gold), an academically gifted and intellectual young woman; and youngest son Ben (Jeremy Miller), a mischievous boy who looks up to Mike. In the fourth season, the family welcomes a fourth child, daughter Chrissy (portrayed in infancy by twins Kelsey and Kirsten Dohring, and later by Ashley Johnson). In the seventh season, the Seavers take in a homeless teenager, Luke Brower (Leonardo DiCaprio), integrating him into their family. The series explores themes of family values, adolescent issues, friendship, and love, blending comedic and dramatic elements. "Growing Pains" enjoyed high ratings and left a significant mark on 1980s and early 1990s culture, running for seven seasons from 1985 to 1992, producing a total of 166 episodes.
