A first-person shooter and a spin-off of the main Halo series, developed by Bungie. The game tells the story of a group of ODST (Orbital Drop Shock Troopers) who land in the city of New Mombasa after the Covenant destroys much of the population. The protagonist is Sergeant Major Joe Riker, who explores the ruined city while searching for his missing squadmates, which leads to the gradual revelation of a larger story about the war with the Covenant. The game differs from the main series as the player controls a regular soldier rather than a Spartan, which makes the gameplay feel more vulnerable and strategic. A key feature is the nighttime atmosphere, where players use a limited set of resources to survive in the dangerous and deserted city. Multiplayer offers new maps and modes, as well as the option for cooperative gameplay with friends. The game was well-received for its atmosphere, deep story, and updated mechanics. It was released for Xbox 360 and later included in the Halo: The Master Chief Collection for Windows and Xbox One.
