A first-person shooter and the final entry in the original Halo trilogy, developed by Bungie. The story continues from Halo 2, where Master Chief, alongside the Arbiter and Earth’s forces, attempts to stop the Covenant, prevent the activation of the Halo rings, and eliminate the threat of the Flood. The campaign features intense battles in diverse locations, large-scale encounters with powerful enemies, and a conclusion to the main storyline of the franchise. For the first time in the series, cooperative play for up to four players is introduced. The multiplayer became one of the most popular of its generation, offering a wide selection of maps, modes, the Forge map editor, and a replay-saving system. With a new engine, the game delivers improved graphics, physics, and gameplay mechanics. Halo 3 received critical acclaim and became one of the most successful games on the Xbox 360, playing a pivotal role in the evolution of console online gaming. It was later re-released as part of Halo: The Master Chief Collection for Windows and Xbox One.
