A 2002 American war drama directed by Gregory Hoblit, based on the novel of the same name by John Katzenbach. The film is set in a German prisoner-of-war camp during World War II and follows First Lieutenant Thomas Hart (Colin Farrell), a U.S. Army intelligence officer who is captured by German forces and sent to Stalag VI-A. There, he encounters Colonel William McNamara (Bruce Willis), the highest-ranking American officer in the camp, who is secretly planning an escape and sabotage mission targeting a nearby German factory. The arrival of two African American pilots, Lieutenants Lamar Archer (Vicellous Reon Shannon) and Lincoln Scott (Terrence Howard), adds complexity to the camp's dynamics. When Archer is found murdered, Scott is accused of the crime, leading McNamara to appoint Hart as Scott's defense counsel in a makeshift trial held within the camp. As Hart delves into the case, he uncovers racial prejudices and hidden agendas among the prisoners, as well as McNamara's true intentions. The film explores themes of honor, racial discrimination, and moral dilemmas against the backdrop of wartime. Despite its notable cast and serious subject matter, "Hart's War" received mixed reviews from critics and grossed approximately $33.1 million worldwide against a budget of $70 million.
