Haywire

The 2011 American-Irish spy action thriller directed by Steven Soderbergh, written by Lem Dobbs, presents a dynamic tale of betrayal and revenge in the world of private military operations. Along her journey, she confronts her former boss and ex-lover Kenneth (Ewan McGregor), CIA agent Coblenz (Michael Douglas), international intermediary Rodrigo (Antonio Banderas), and other conspirators. Utilizing her combat skills and strategic thinking, Mallory overcomes numerous obstacles, including being pursued by former colleagues and law enforcement, to uncover the truth and exact revenge. The film is notable for its realistic fight sequences, with Gina Carano, a former mixed martial arts champion, performing her own stunts. Soderbergh, also serving as cinematographer under the pseudonym Peter Andrews and editor as Mary Ann Bernard, imparts a unique visual style to the film through unconventional angles and a minimalist color palette. The musical score by David Holmes enhances the tense atmosphere and pacing. Despite moderate commercial success, the film received positive reviews from critics for its innovative approach to the genre, fight choreography, and directorial execution.​
