Hudson Hawk

The 1991 American action comedy film directed by Michael Lehmann follows the story of Eddie "Hudson Hawk" Hawkins (Bruce Willis), a former professional thief and master burglar who is released from prison after serving ten years, intending to lead an honest life. However, his plans are disrupted when he is coerced into committing a series of thefts of valuable artifacts created by Leonardo da Vinci. Behind this scheme are the eccentric billionaires Darwin and Minerva Mayflower (Richard E. Grant and Sandra Bernhard), who aim to assemble pieces of da Vinci's alchemical device capable of converting lead into gold, thereby seeking world domination. Assisting Hawk in these heists is his longtime friend and partner Tommy "Five-Tone" Messina (Danny Aiello). They synchronize each theft by singing well-known songs to precisely time their operations. As the plot unfolds, Hawk encounters various obstacles, including agents from a secret CIA organization led by George Kaplan (James Coburn) and the enigmatic nun Anna Baragli (Andie MacDowell), who is connected to the Vatican and has her own motives. The film combines elements of parody, absurdity, and slapstick comedy, featuring cartoonish sound effects and ridiculous situations, giving it a unique style. Despite Hawk's desire to leave his criminal past behind, he becomes entangled in a global conspiracy filled with betrayals, unexpected alliances, and comedic scenarios, where he must use all his skills and ingenuity to survive and prevent disaster.
