Insidious

A 2010 American supernatural horror film directed by James Wan and written by Leigh Whannell. The story follows the Lambert family: Josh (Patrick Wilson), his wife Renai (Rose Byrne), and their three children, who move into a new home. Soon after, their son Dalton (Ty Simpkins) inexplicably falls into a coma after exploring the attic. Three months later, with no medical explanation, the family begins to experience paranormal events in the house. Renai hears strange noises and sees eerie figures, leading her to believe the house is haunted. They relocate, but the phenomena persist. Josh's mother, Lorraine (Barbara Hershey), suggests consulting medium Elise Rainier (Lin Shaye) and her team. Elise reveals that Dalton has the ability of astral projection, and his spirit is lost in a realm called "The Further." Demonic entities are attempting to use his body as a vessel to enter our world. Josh, possessing similar abilities, ventures into "The Further" to rescue his son. He confronts demons and ghosts, including a demon intent on possessing Dalton's body. Josh manages to find and retrieve Dalton, but upon returning, he encounters the spirit of a woman in black who haunted him as a child. The film concludes with Elise photographing Josh and realizing he is possessed by this spirit; Josh kills Elise, and Renai discovers her body and the photograph, realizing Josh is no longer himself.
