It Follows

The 2014 American horror film, written and directed by David Robert Mitchell, follows 19-year-old college student Jay (Maika Monroe), who, after an intimate encounter with a boy named Hugh (Jake Weary), begins to experience strange visions and an unshakable sense of being followed. Hugh confesses that he has passed on to her a supernatural curse: an entity, visible only to those afflicted, will relentlessly pursue her, taking the form of various people, until it catches her. The only way to rid oneself of the curse is to pass it to another person through sexual intercourse. Jay, along with her friends Paul (Keir Gilchrist), Yara (Olivia Luccardi), and her sister Kelly (Lili Sepe), attempts to find a way to escape the relentless follower, confronting escalating horror and despair. The film explores themes of fear, inevitability, and the consequences of reckless actions, creating an atmosphere of constant tension and dread.
