Alien: Covenant

The 2017 American-British science fiction horror film directed by Ridley Scott serves as a sequel to "Prometheus" (2012) and the sixth installment in the "Alien" franchise. Set in 2104, the story follows the crew of the colony ship "Covenant" en route to the planet Origae-6 to establish a new human settlement. After a neutrino burst damages the ship, the crew intercepts a mysterious signal from an unknown but seemingly habitable planet. Deciding to investigate, they discover the planet is home to the android David (Michael Fassbender), who survived the events of "Prometheus." The planet lacks animal life but harbors dangerous forms of xenomorphs, including neomorphs created by a mutagenic pathogen engineered by the Engineers. David, obsessed with creating the perfect life form, conducts gruesome experiments using the remains of Dr. Elizabeth Shaw and the pathogen to develop the ideal xenomorph. The crew, including Daniels (Katherine Waterston), Oram (Billy Crudup), and Tennessee (Danny McBride), confronts the horrors hidden on the planet and attempts to escape. However, David kills his counterpart Walter (also played by Fassbender), impersonates him, and returns to the "Covenant" with the survivors. In the climax, he places the colonists into cryosleep and begins cultivating xenomorph embryos, continuing his experiments. The film delves into themes of creation, artificial intelligence, and human hubris, blending philosophical elements with horror. Filming took place in Australia, and the film premiered in May 2017.​
