An American rapper, songwriter, record producer, and entrepreneur, born on January 28, 1985, at a U.S. military base in Frankfurt, West Germany, and raised in Fayetteville, North Carolina. He began his music career in 2007 with the release of his debut mixtape "The Come Up," which caught the attention of Jay-Z and led to a contract with Roc Nation in 2009. Subsequent mixtapes "The Warm Up" (2009) and "Friday Night Lights" (2010) solidified his reputation in the hip-hop community. His debut studio album, "Cole World: The Sideline Story" (2011), topped the Billboard 200 chart and was certified platinum. Following albums, including "Born Sinner" (2013), "2014 Forest Hills Drive" (2014), "4 Your Eyez Only" (2016), "KOD" (2018), and "The Off-Season" (2021), also achieved chart-topping success and critical acclaim. Notably, "2014 Forest Hills Drive" became the first rap album in 25 years to go platinum without any guest features. In 2024, he released the mixtape "Might Delete Later," which was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Rap Album. Cole is the founder of Dreamville Records and the multimedia company Dreamville Ventures, actively developing artists and projects across various media formats. Beyond music, he played professional basketball for the Patriots BBC (2021) and the Scarborough Shooting Stars (2022). He is married to Melissa Heholt, with whom he has two children.
