A 2013 American action thriller directed by Mark Steven Johnson and written by Evan Daugherty, "Killing Season" centers on the confrontation between two war veterans. Colonel Benjamin Ford (Robert De Niro), a retired U.S. Army officer, retreats to a secluded cabin in the Tennessee mountains to escape memories of the Bosnian War. Emil Kovač (John Travolta), a former Serbian soldier who survived an execution by American forces, tracks down Ford under the guise of a European tourist. The two men initially bond, but Kovač soon reveals his true identity, initiating a deadly game of cat and mouse to exact revenge. Despite his age and injuries, Ford proves to be a formidable adversary, and the roles of hunter and hunted shift repeatedly. Ultimately, after intense combat, both men recognize the futility of vengeance and reach a truce: Kovač returns to Serbia, and Ford reconciles with his estranged son. The film received predominantly negative reviews from critics and grossed approximately $1.1 million worldwide.
