Law & Order: Los Angeles

An American crime television series created by Dick Wolf and Blake Masters, it is the fifth installment in the "Law & Order" franchise and the first set outside of New York City, taking place in Los Angeles. The series premiered on September 29, 2010, on NBC. It follows detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department's Robbery-Homicide Division, including Detective Rex Winters (Skeet Ulrich), a seasoned investigator with a military background, and his partner Thomas "TJ" Jaruszalski (Corey Stoll), a charismatic and insightful detective with deep community ties. Following Winters' tragic death at the hands of a Mexican drug cartel, former Deputy District Attorney Ricardo Morales (Alfred Molina) returns to the police force to continue the fight against crime. On the legal side, cases are prosecuted by Deputy District Attorneys Jonah "Joe" Dekker (Terrence Howard) and Connie Rubirosa (Alana de la Garza), the latter having previously worked in New York. The series distinguishes itself by dividing each episode into two parts: the first focuses on the criminal investigation, and the second on the courtroom proceedings. Despite a strong cast and an intriguing narrative approach, the show struggled with ratings, leading to its cancellation after one season comprising 22 episodes. Nevertheless, "Law & Order: Los Angeles" was recognized for its attempt to adapt the franchise's classic formula to the unique environment and issues of Los Angeles.
