London Has Fallen

Babak Najafi directed this 2016 American political action thriller. The script comes from Creighton Rothenberger and Katrin Benedikt, together with Chad St. John and Christian Gudegast. The film picks up after "Olympus Has Fallen" (2013), making it the second entry in the "Has Fallen" film series. The plot unfolds in London during the funeral of the British Prime Minister, attended by Western world leaders, including U.S. President Benjamin Asher (Aaron Eckhart). A terrorist organization led by arms dealer Aamir Barkawi (Alon Moni Aboutboul) orchestrates a massive attack, targeting key landmarks and attempting to assassinate the assembled leaders. Secret Service agent Mike Banning (Gerard Butler) becomes the sole protector of the president, striving to ensure his safety amidst the chaos. The film also features Morgan Freeman as Speaker of the House Allan Trumbull, Angela Bassett as Secret Service Director Lynne Jacobs, Robert Forster as General Edward Clegg, and Melissa Leo as Secretary of Defense Ruth McMillan. Despite mixed critical reviews, the film grossed over $205 million worldwide on a $60 million budget, continuing the franchise's commercial success.
