The 1998 American action and crime comedy TV series directed by Carlton Cuse follows Chinese police officer Sammo Law (Sammo Hung), who arrives in Los Angeles to capture the dangerous criminal Lee Hei (Tzi Ma). Throughout the investigation, he faces cultural differences and the working methods of the American police, but his exceptional martial arts skills quickly earn him the respect of his colleagues. Sammo becomes part of the local police department, working alongside Detective Dana Doyle (Gretchen Egolf) and Officer Louis McGrain (Louis Mandylor), as well as mentoring his young trainee Grace "Pei Pei" Chen (Kelly Hu), helping her refine her combat techniques and law enforcement skills. Each episode focuses on solving new crimes, thrilling chases, intense fights, and comedic moments arising from the clash of Eastern and Western approaches to policing.
