A 2013 Russian disaster film directed by Anton Megerdichev, based on the novel of the same name by Dmitry Safonov. The story is set in Moscow, where uncontrolled urban development in the city center leads to a breach in the integrity of a Moscow Metro tunnel built in 1935. This results in water from the Moscow River leaking into the tunnel between the "Sadovaya" and "Park Kultury" stations. One night, a tunnel inspector named Sergeitch (Sergey Sosnovsky) discovers the leak and reports it to the station attendant, but his warning is ignored. Meanwhile, surgeon Andrey Garin (Sergey Puskepalis) and his daughter Ksyusha (Anfisa Vistingauzen) enter the metro to get to school, and businessman Vlad Konstantinov (Anatoly Bely), the lover of Garin's wife Irina (Svetlana Khodchenkova), also boards the same train. Suddenly, a water breakthrough occurs in the tunnel, causing the train to derail. Passengers, including Garin, Ksyusha, Konstantinov, and a fellow traveler Galina (Ekaterina Shpitsa), find themselves trapped underground. They must fight for survival, facing rising panic, flooding, and collapses. Throughout their ordeal, personal dramas, internal conflicts, and relationships are revealed, adding deep emotional layers to the film. The movie combines elements of drama, thriller, and disaster genres, creating a tense atmosphere and showcasing human resilience in the face of catastrophe.
