Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children

A 2016 American dark fantasy film directed by Tim Burton, based on the novel of the same name by Ransom Riggs. Teenager Jacob "Jake" Portman (Asa Butterfield), after the tragic death of his grandfather Abraham "Abe" Portman (Terence Stamp), travels with his father Franklin (Chris O'Dowd) to a remote island in Wales to find the orphanage his grandfather spoke of. On the island, Jake discovers an abandoned house where he meets Miss Alma LeFay Peregrine (Eva Green), the headmistress of a home for "peculiar children" with special abilities. Miss Peregrine can transform into a bird and manipulate time loops, maintaining September 3, 1943, in perpetual repetition to protect her wards from monsters known as Hollows, led by Barron (Samuel L. Jackson). Jake meets children like Emma Bloom (Ella Purnell), who is lighter than air and can control air, and Bronwyn (Pixie Davies), who possesses superhuman strength. Jake discovers he has inherited his grandfather's ability to see Hollows, making him crucial in protecting the home. When Barron and his followers attack, seeking immortality through experiments on peculiar children, Jake and his new friends must unite to save Miss Peregrine and the other peculiars from peril.
