A fighting video game developed by Midway Games, serving as a compilation of the best elements from previous Mortal Kombat titles, combining characters, arenas, and gameplay mechanics from Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat II, Mortal Kombat 3, and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. The game features the largest roster of fighters at the time, including all characters from past installments, such as Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Liu Kang, Kitana, Shao Kahn, and the exclusive character Chameleon. Each fighter has access to the full range of finishing moves, including Fatalities, Animalities, Brutalities, Friendships, and Babalities. The combat system is based on Mortal Kombat 3 mechanics, allowing for combo attacks and running moves. A new "Aggressor" meter temporarily increases the character's speed during successful attacks. Graphics and animations are taken from the arcade versions of previous games, while the soundtrack and sound effects recreate the series' dark atmosphere. Mortal Kombat Trilogy served as a comprehensive collection for fans, offering the most complete Mortal Kombat experience. It was released on platforms including PlayStation, Nintendo 64, Sega Saturn, Windows, and others.
