Pan's Labyrinth

A 2006 Spanish dark fantasy film directed and written by Guillermo del Toro. Set in 1944 Spain, after the Civil War, the story follows 10-year-old Ofelia (Ivana Baquero), who moves with her mother to the home of her brutal stepfather, Captain Vidal (Sergi López), a fascist officer. In the nearby forest, she discovers an ancient labyrinth where she meets a mystical creature, the Faun (Doug Jones), who tells her that she is the reincarnation of a princess from an underground kingdom. To return to her kingdom, Ofelia must complete three dangerous tasks.
