An American fantasy drama film released in 2003, directed by Tim Burton and based on Daniel Wallace's novel "Big Fish: A Novel of Mythic Proportions." The story follows the life of Edward Bloom (portrayed by Albert Finney as an older man and Ewan McGregor as a young man), known for his incredible tales and penchant for exaggeration. His son, Will Bloom (Billy Crudup), tired of his father's constant stories, becomes estranged from him. However, upon learning of Edward's terminal illness, Will returns home to try to unravel the real life of his father and separate fact from fiction. Through Edward's memories and stories, the audience is immersed in a world of his adventures: meeting a witch (Helena Bonham Carter), friendship with the giant Karl (Matthew McGrory), working in a circus led by Amos Calloway (Danny DeVito), and searching for his beloved Sandra (portrayed by Alison Lohman as a young woman and Jessica Lange as an older woman). The film explores themes of father-son relationships, the nature of storytelling, and how myths and legends shape our identity.
