Prometheus

A 2012 science fiction film directed by British filmmaker Ridley Scott. The story follows a group of scientists and explorers who, in 2089, discover ancient star maps matching images from various ancient cultures. Believing this to be an invitation from humanity's ancestors, they embark on the spaceship "Prometheus" to the distant moon LV-223. The expedition is funded by the Weyland Corporation, led by the elderly Peter Weyland (Guy Pearce). Onboard are archaeologists Elizabeth Shaw (Noomi Rapace) and Charlie Holloway (Logan Marshall-Green), android David (Michael Fassbender), mission director Meredith Vickers (Charlize Theron), and captain Janek (Idris Elba). Upon arriving at LV-223, the team discovers a massive artificial structure containing cylinders filled with an unknown black liquid, a monolithic head statue, and the remains of a large humanoid, presumably one of the "Engineers" — the supposed creators of humanity. David secretly takes one of the cylinders and infects Holloway with the black liquid, leading to his rapid demise. Shaw discovers she is pregnant with an unknown entity and uses an automated surgical capsule to extract the alien parasite. Meanwhile, David finds a sleeping Engineer and attempts to communicate, but the Engineer kills him and the remaining crew members, intending to travel to Earth to exterminate humanity using the black liquid. Captain Janek sacrifices himself and the crew by crashing the "Prometheus" into the Engineer's ship, preventing its launch. Shaw, the sole survivor, decides to continue seeking answers and, along with the reassembled David, sets course on the Engineers' ship to their home planet to uncover the reason for their hostility toward humanity.
