Rebecca

A 1940 gothic thriller directed by Alfred Hitchcock, based on the novel of the same name by Daphne du Maurier. A young woman (Joan Fontaine / Natalya Kaznacheeva) marries wealthy widower Maxim de Winter (Laurence Olivier / Viktor Rozhdestvensky) and moves into his grand estate, Manderley. However, the shadow of his late first wife, Rebecca, looms over the house, and the stern housekeeper, Mrs. Danvers (Judith Anderson / Larisa Volkova), refuses to let the past be forgotten. The film won two Academy Awards, including Best Picture, and became a classic of psychological thrillers.
