A 2007 American action horror film directed by Russell Mulcahy, it is the third installment in the "Resident Evil" film series, based on the video game series of the same name. The film is set several years after the events of the previous installment, with the T-virus created by the Umbrella Corporation having spread worldwide, turning most of humanity into zombies and rendering the planet a desert wasteland. The protagonist, Alice (Milla Jovovich), endowed with superhuman abilities due to Umbrella's experiments, roams the wastelands in search of survivors and a safe haven. She joins a convoy of survivors led by Claire Redfield (Ali Larter), which includes Carlos Oliveira (Oded Fehr) and L.J. (Mike Epps). The group aims to reach Alaska, rumored to be free from infection. Meanwhile, Dr. Isaacs (Iain Glen), a leading scientist at Umbrella, attempts to create clones of Alice to use their blood to develop a cure for the virus. He also develops more aggressive zombies to capture Alice. In Las Vegas, the group encounters an ambush by mutated zombies, leading to the deaths of several team members, including Carlos, who sacrifices himself to ensure the others' escape. Alice infiltrates Umbrella's underground facility, where she confronts the mutated Dr. Isaacs. In the final battle, she defeats him with the help of one of her clones and decides to use her clone army to destroy Umbrella in Tokyo.
