The 1997 American fantasy adventure television series, created by Shaun Cassidy and Ron Koslow, is set in 400 AD Ireland, where young Celtic prince Conor (Heath Ledger) seeks to unite the fragmented Celtic clans to resist Roman invaders. Aided by former slave Caitlin (Vera Farmiga), teenage apprentice magician Tully (Alonzo Greer), and loyal warrior Fergus (John Saint Ryan), Conor faces formidable adversaries: the immortal Roman centurion Longinus (Sebastian Roché), cursed for piercing Jesus Christ with his spear, and the scheming Queen Diana (Lisa Zane), determined to bring Ireland under Roman control. The series blends Celtic and Christian mythologies, delving into themes of leadership, faith, and the struggle for freedom. Despite its ambitious narrative and the involvement of future stars, the show was canceled after one season due to low ratings; only 8 of the 13 episodes aired in 1997, with the remaining 5 broadcast in 2000.
