Scream 7

A slasher by Kevin Williamson from a screenplay he wrote with Guy Busick; Marco Beltrami composed the score. Neve Campbell plays Sidney Prescott again, with Courteney Cox, Isabel May and Joel McHale in the cast. The release is set for 2026. Williamson wrote the screenplay of the first Scream, which Wes Craven directed in 1996, and here he takes the director's chair on his own series for the first time. That first film was built on a device rare for the genre: its characters watched horror films and said aloud the rules by which such films are made, while going on living inside one. The killer wore a mask with a distorted scream, telephoned the victims to ask about their favourite pictures, and turned out each time to be someone from the near circle. The constant face of the series is Sidney Prescott, a young woman from the town of Woodsboro who survived the first attack and returned to the story again and again. The seventh part puts her at the centre.
