Thanksgiving

The 2023 American slasher film directed by Eli Roth and written by Jeff Rendell is based on their collaborative story and expands upon the fictitious trailer from "Grindhouse" (2007). It is the fourth full-length feature inspired by such trailers. Set in Plymouth, Massachusetts, the plot follows a year after a tragic Black Friday incident when a serial killer wearing a John Carver mask begins targeting residents. Victims include a store manager (Patrick Dempsey), a young woman named Jess (Addison Rae), her friends, and other townspeople. The killer employs Thanksgiving-themed methods and symbols to carry out gruesome murders, turning the holiday into a nightmare. The film blends classic slasher elements with social satire, exploring themes of consumerism and societal pressure. The cast also features Milo Manheim, Jalen Thomas Brooks, Nell Verlaque, Rick Hoffman, and Gina Gershon. The film received positive reviews from critics and grossed $46.6 million worldwide against a $15 million budget. A sequel is currently in development, scheduled for release in November 2025.
