The Bag Man

The 2014 American neo-noir crime thriller directed by David Grovic follows Jack (John Cusack), a professional killer hired by elderly gangster Robert Dragna (Robert De Niro) to retrieve a mysterious bag and wait for him at a motel, with strict instructions not to open it or let anyone see its contents. At the motel, Jack encounters peculiar individuals, including the wheelchair-bound clerk Ned (Crispin Glover), the tall prostitute Rivka (Rebecca Da Costa), and two aggressive men, Lizard (Sticky Fingaz) and Guano (Martin Klebba). Complications arise when Jack kills two men who turn out to be FBI agents and discovers a photo of the bag in their briefcase, raising suspicions about its significance. Rivka seeks refuge with Jack, claiming fear for her life, leading to a complex relationship filled with mistrust and hidden agendas. As Sheriff Larson (Dominic Purcell) begins to suspect Jack of various crimes, the situation spirals out of control. It is revealed that the entire motel and local authorities are under Dragna's influence, and the events are part of a test for Jack. The climax unveils the bag's contents — the head of Jack's fiancée, murdered on Dragna's orders to keep Jack in the criminal fold. In the end, Rivka, revealed to be Dragna's mistress and assassin, kills Dragna and departs with Jack, having secured a reward for his elimination.​
