The 2005 American action film follows former Spokane, Washington police detective John Shepherd (Chuck Norris), who, after a failed hostage rescue resulting in a child's death, leaves the force and becomes a private investigator. He is hired by Elizabeth Teller (Joanna Pacuła) to find her uncle, Isaac Teller (Bernie Kopell), an elderly jeweler and Holocaust survivor with unique diamond-cutting skills. Isaac is kidnapped by Dirk Cross (Daniel Bernhardt), a ruthless criminal working for former Nazi officer Colonel Speerman (Curt Lowens), who seeks to recover lost Third Reich treasure. Shepherd's investigation brings him into contact with FBI Agent Parks (Todd Jensen), who warns him to stay away from the case. Ignoring the warning, Shepherd continues his search, facing various obstacles and dangers. He discovers that Isaac was forced to work for the Nazis in a concentration camp, cutting diamonds for their leaders. Now, Speerman wants Isaac to recreate a special cut to access hidden jewels. Shepherd locates and frees Isaac, confronting Dirk and his men. In a tense climax, Shepherd defeats Dirk, and Speerman dies attempting to escape. The film concludes with Isaac reuniting with his niece, and Shepherd finding redemption for past mistakes, realizing he can once again protect people and fight for justice.
