The Evening Star​

A 1996 American comedy-drama directed by Robert Harling, based on Larry McMurtry's novel, serves as a sequel to the 1983 film "Terms of Endearment." The story picks up 13 years after the death of Emma, focusing on Aurora Greenway (Shirley MacLaine) and her relationships with her three grandchildren: Melanie (Juliette Lewis), Teddy (Mackenzie Astin), and Tommy (George Newbern). Melanie, a rebellious young woman, seeks independence and moves in with aspiring actor Bruce (Scott Wolf), only to return home after a failed relationship. Teddy attempts to build a life with his girlfriend and child, while Tommy serves a prison sentence for drug offenses. Aurora faces rivalry from Patsy Carpenter (Miranda Richardson), her late daughter's friend, and embarks on a romantic relationship with psychiatrist Jerry Bruckner (Bill Paxton), which ends when she realizes her resemblance to Jerry's mother. The film also depicts the deaths of Aurora's close friends, including her housekeeper Rosie (Marion Ross) and General Arthur Cotton (Ben Johnson).
