The Master and Margarita

A Russian TV series based on Mikhail Bulgakov’s novel of the same name, first released in 2005. The story unfolds in two timelines: 1930s Moscow and Judea during the time of Pontius Pilate. In Moscow, Satan, disguised as Woland, and his entourage orchestrate a series of mysterious and supernatural events, confronting Soviet officials and the literary elite. At the same time, the story follows the love affair between the writer known as the Master and his devoted Marguerite, who is willing to do anything to save her beloved. The series was directed by Vladimir Bortko, with leading roles played by Alexander Galibin, Anna Kovalchuk, Oleg Basilashvili, Alexander Abdulov, and others.
