A 1969 American crime film directed by Hubert Cornfield, based on Lionel White's novel "The Snatchers". Set in France, the story follows a group of criminals who kidnap a young woman, the daughter of wealthy Mr. Dupont (Hugues Wanner), aiming for a ransom. The kidnappers include: Bud (Marlon Brando), a former pilot now working as a chauffeur; Leer (Richard Boone), the ruthless and unpredictable leader; Vi (Rita Moreno), Bud's girlfriend and a drug-addicted stewardess; and her brother Wally (Jess Hahn), who assists in the abduction. After kidnapping the girl (Pamela Franklin) at Orly Airport, they hold her in a secluded beach house on the French coast. Tensions within the group escalate due to Leer's brutality and Vi's instability, leading to conflicts among the members. Bud, developing sympathy for the hostage, begins to question the morality of their actions and plans to free her. However, the situation spirals out of control when the ransom exchange leads to a series of betrayals and violence, culminating in tragic outcomes for all involved.
