A 1960 crime drama directed by François Truffaut, based on David Goodis’s novel Down There. The protagonist, a former renowned pianist Édouard Saroyan (Charles Aznavour / Vsevolod Abdulov), abandons his career after a personal tragedy and now plays in a small bar under the name Charlie Kohler. His quiet life is disrupted when his brother, on the run from gangsters, reappears, pulling Charlie into the world of crime. Blending elements of noir, tragicomedy, and the French New Wave, the film became a cult classic in cinema history.
