A 1986 Soviet science fiction tragicomedy directed by Georgiy Daneliya. The film follows two Soviet citizens — Vladimir Nikolaevich Mashkov from Moscow and student Gedevan Alexidze — who accidentally find themselves on the barren and desolate planet Pluk in the Kin-dza-dza galaxy. On Pluk, society is structured absurdly and hierarchically, with people divided by the color of their pants and speaking in a limited vocabulary. The two protagonists face bizarre social norms as they struggle to find a way back to Earth.
