The Prince of Pennsylvania

A 1988 American comedy-drama directed by Ron Nyswaner. The film follows Rupert Marshetta (Keanu Reeves), a young man who doesn't conform to the societal norms of his coal-mining town in Pennsylvania. Having dropped out of school, he feels alienated from his parents—father Gary (Fred Ward), a miner, and mother Pam (Bonnie Bedelia), who is having an affair with young miner Jack Sike (Jeff Hayenga). Rupert and Carla's attempts to locate the funds lead to a series of events, including a mine explosion in which Carla is presumed dead. Ultimately, Rupert comes to terms with the consequences of his actions and decides to leave town, heading to Pittsburgh with a biker girl he had befriended earlier.
