This 2019 American animated comedy film, a sequel to the successful 2016 movie, directed by Chris Renaud and Jonathan del Val and produced by Illumination, continues the adventures of beloved pets in New York City and beyond. The main character, Max the terrier (voiced by Patton Oswalt), faces significant changes in his life as his owner Katie marries Chuck and they have a son, Liam. Max becomes overly protective and anxious about the child, leading to stress and the need to wear a protective cone. During a family trip to a farm, Max meets a tough sheepdog named Rooster (voiced by Harrison Ford), who helps him overcome his fears and gain confidence. Simultaneously, two other storylines unfold: Gidget (voiced by Jenny Slate) loses Max's favorite toy in a cat-infested apartment and, with the help of the cat Chloe, learns to behave like a cat to retrieve it; Snowball the rabbit (voiced by Kevin Hart), imagining himself as a superhero, teams up with a new friend, Daisy (voiced by Tiffany Haddish), to rescue a white tiger named Hu from the clutches of an abusive circus trainer named Sergei. All three storylines converge in the finale as the characters unite to save their friends and restore order. The film explores themes of personal growth, overcoming fears, friendship, and responsibility, combining humor, dynamic animation, and heartfelt moments, making it appealing to audiences of all ages.
