The 2011 American crime thriller directed by Dito Montiel and based on his own screenplay is an intense story about the past catching up with the present. Set in 2002 in Queens, New York, it follows rookie police officer Jonathan White (Channing Tatum), who serves under Captain Marion Mathers (Ray Liotta). He lives with his wife Kerry (Katie Holmes) and their sick daughter, trying to lead an honest life, but mysterious letters threatening to expose a long-buried secret about two murders committed in his youth start to unravel everything. In 1986, Jonathan killed two men in self-defense, and his friends Vinnie (Tracy Morgan) and Vicky helped him cover it up. Detective Charles Stanford (Al Pacino), his late father's partner, destroyed the evidence out of loyalty. Years later, anonymous threats force Jonathan to confront journalist Loren Bridges (Juliette Binoche), hoping to prevent the story from going public. But when Loren is murdered, Jonathan becomes entangled in a web of betrayal, lies, and corruption within the police force. The film explores themes of guilt, moral conflict, and the inescapability of one's past.
