The Terminal

A 2004 American comedy-drama film directed and produced by Steven Spielberg. The film stars Tom Hanks, with Catherine Zeta-Jones and Stanley Tucci in supporting roles. The story follows Viktor Navorski, a man from the fictional Eastern European country of Krakozhia, who arrives at New York's John F. Kennedy Airport. During his flight, a military coup occurs in his homeland, leading the United States to suspend diplomatic relations with Krakozhia. As a result, Viktor finds himself in a legal limbo: he cannot enter the U.S., nor can he return home. Stranded in the airport terminal, he adapts to his new environment, forms friendships with airport staff, and develops a romantic interest in flight attendant Amelia Warren. The film is inspired by the true story of Iranian refugee Mehran Karimi Nasseri, who lived in Terminal 1 of Paris's Charles de Gaulle Airport from 1988 until 2006. "The Terminal" received positive reviews from critics and was a commercial success, grossing over $219 million worldwide. ​
