The Watchers

A 2024 American horror film directed by Ishana Night Shyamalan, based on the novel of the same name by A. M. Shine. The story takes place in Ireland, where 28-year-old American woman Mina (Dakota Fanning) lives in isolation, haunted by childhood trauma related to her mother's death. While working at a pet store, she is assigned to deliver a parrot to a wildlife reserve, but her car breaks down in a remote forest. Seeking help, she stumbles upon a mysterious structure and meets three strangers—Daniel (Oliver Finnegan), Ciara (Georgina Campbell), and an elderly woman, Madeline (Olwen Fouéré). They reside in a peculiar building with a single mirrored wall and must follow strict rules: after sunset, they must stand in front of the mirror or face certain death. The creatures in the forest, known as "The Watchers," observe them from the darkness, mimicking their movements but never revealing themselves. As Mina unravels their secret, she realizes that these entities can do more than just copy human behavior—they can change their appearance. Determined to escape, she devises a plan, but breaking free may be more dangerous than staying. The film was shot in Ireland, primarily in Dublin, Wicklow, and Galway. The cast also includes Alistair Brammer (John) and John Lynch (Professor).
